Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands.

John 19: 1-3

It was not a crown of jewels and gold, but of torture and humiliation. Instead of shouts of glory, He was hailed with mockery and flogging.  He is God, He has all authority in heaven and on earth, but He was made to take shame for his acclaim. But what was it all for? Our King suffered indignity so that we would be able to wear the crown and robe of righteousness.

Are you willing to put off your old life so you can put on the righteousness of God?
